Wreaths Across America

EVENT DATE: Sunday, December 5th 2010, 6:30pm

On Sunday, December 5th, 2010 at 6:30pm, the Wreaths Across America caravan will make its last stop on its way to the Arlington National Cemetery at the Cabela’s in Scarborough. Escorted by police, fire & rescue officials, there will be a ceremony at the plaza, presenting a wreath in memory of our veterans. This ceremony will take place outside the front of the Cabela’s store. Other patriotic functions will follow, so please join us at this incredible, inspiring celebration of our national pride.  Trucks will remain at The Shoppes parking lot overnight.  The following morning, Monday, December 6th, the procession will begin staging its departure at 6:15am to make its leave by7am.

Wreaths Across America™, a non-profit 501-c3 organization, was formed as an extension of the Arlington Wreath Project.  The Arlington Wreath program was started by Morrill Worcester in 1992 with the donation and laying of 5,000 Christmas wreaths at the Arlington National Cemetery. Since then, the program has exploded to international attention, and now wreaths are laid at over 300 locations worldwide with wreath laying ceremonies held in every state, Puerto Rico and at 24 overseas cemeteries.  Last year, over 100,000 wreaths were placed on veterans graves, and over 60,000 volunteers participated in the exalted procession that spans this great nation.
